Review:
Well, the good news is that the acting and special effects just keep getting better and better. The plot, however... Basically, a scientist is experimenting with some "Godzilla cells" left over from the last movie when terrorists blow up his lab, killing his daughter. Years later, the same scientist is asked by the Japanese Government to use more Godzilla cells to create "Anti-Nuclear Bacteria," [ANB] which might be an effective weapon against Godzilla should he ever return. Just for kicks, however, he decides to use the cells to combine Godzilla DNA with that of a rose. In the process, the spirit of his dead daughter somehow gets thrown into the mixture. Don't ask me how. The result is a gigantic, mutating rose named Biollante, which has Godzilla's regenerating abilities and the daughter's spirit. Meanwhile, a group of American terrorists threaten to release Godzilla from his volcanic prison unless the ANB is turned over to them. The Japanese government agrees, but before the transfer takes place an evil foreign agent from "Saradia" steals the ANB and Godzilla ends up getting released anyway. Well, then the fun REALLY starts! Godzilla attacks Biollante for some reason, while the Japanese try to get the ANB back. Eventually, Godzilla defeats the giant rose, and the Japanese manage to retrieve the ANB, but it doesn't stop Godzilla. That's all right, though. Godzilla returns to the ocean, so everyone is happy. In spite of the fact that most of the main characters end up dying, that is.... *sigh*
